Treatment Fertilization and nutrient treatment: MOW-JOE provides comprehensive fertilization and nutrient application services that promote vigorous and healthy turfgrass - a healthy lawn is naturally resistant to pest infestation, which means less pest control chemicals necessary. This saves you money and helps protect the environment. All fertilization techniques and products are thoroughly researched and tested for proven effectiveness prior to use on your property. This approach combined with comprehensive diagnosis means you get the service that you want and deserve. Cultural and chemical methods to control turf pests: The cultural approach to pest control is extremely effective, less costly and the most environmentally sound method to restrict the infestation of pests. Cultural controls include: Mowing at the correct frequency and mowing height Watering according to a prescribed regiment Fertilizing in line with best practices Utilizing resistant/tolerant turfgrass varieties and cultivars Eliminating low areas that retain water Employing a core aeration procedure Removing excessive thatch buildup Promoting adequate air movement Controlling pests through chemical treatment may be necessary to help create a healthy turf environment but are used only to that end - chemical treatment is not a solution by or unto itself! At MOW-JOE, all chemical treatments are applied by a certified pest control professional and in strict accordance with all government regulations and guidelines. The proper application is determined as a result of a comprehensive turf analysis - then and only then are chemicals used to control pests. Since pest growth is weather dependant, an application schedule based solely on calendar timetable is a waste of money and is an environmentally unsafe practice. Therefore, MOW-JOE will develop a pest control treatment program customized to your specific turf requirements. Weeds - Cool and warm season broadleaf weeds are rare in healthy lawn with appropriate grass plant density. The few weeds that do emerge can generally be individually treated or physically removed. Only severe broadleaf weed problems warrant the use of generalized chemical treatment. Warm season annual grass weeds such as crabgrass can be controlled with pre-emergent chemical treatment combined with the first two annual fertilization treatments. Insects - Healthy lawns are able to withstand normal insect populations. Thatch control aids greatly in discouraging above ground insect infestations such as webworms, cutworms and chinch bugs. Treatment may become necessary if population size precludes cultural controls. Treatment should only be prescribed if inspection indicates sufficient damage and numbers. Spot treatments may be required to eliminate some insects such as ant populations not dependant upon thatch to thrive. Underground insects such as grubs should be treated populations warrant treatment. Treatment must be based on close inspection not according to the calendar. Diseases - Turfgrass diseases in this area are caused by fungi nematodes. A healthy turfgrass environment has a natural ability to withstand disease infestation. |
