Traditional
Lawn Care
Mowing:
Correct mowing height and frequency are extremely important
in the maintenance of a healthy, vigorous lawn.
Power mowing includes grass collection or mulching/recycling
depending on conditions and/or customer requirements
Mulching/recycling:
The mulching/recycling method is preferable because
it returns nutrients to the soil where they can be reabsorbed by the turf.
MOW-JOE uses equipment specifically intended
for this purpose.
Collection/bagging:
The collection/bagging alternative may be necessary
if environmental conditions such as excessive turf growth, leaf cover
thatch exist. Some customers simply like the final appearance of the lawn
if clippings are collected. MOW-JOE uses
equipment specifically designed for the collection of turf clippings.
Directional control:
MOW-JOE maintains records
of mowing direction from service to service. Utilizing this information,
mowing in the same direction each service can be avoided greatly reducing
the tendency for the grass to "lay down" which can be unsightly and unhealthy
for the turf.
Trimming:
Trimming utilizing a power string trimmer gives borders
around plant beds and ornamentals a clean, uniform appearance.
Edging:
Edging using a blade type edger along paved surface
borders provides a much cleaner edge than can be achieved with a string
trimmer.
Core aeration:
Power core aeration removes soil plugs up to three
inches in depth promoting a healthier lawn by allowing nutrients and air
to reach the plant roots. This process also reduces thatch - a major source
of disease and insect problems.
Fertilization following core aeration is recommended.
Turfgrass may benefit more from core aeration that any other single service!
Power Rake:
Dethatching or "power raking" is an effective method
for removing excessive thatch buildup. Thatch provides an ideal environment
for fungus and insect habitation. Therefore, thatch removal promotes a
healthier lawn. This service is especially beneficial in conjunction with
over seeding.
Over seeding:
MOW-JOE's over seeding
procedure provides an opportunity to diversify your lawn by distributing
grass seed that represents a variety turf species and cultivars that are
bred to be naturally resistant to disease. Additionally, developing a
thick, healthy lawn creates an environment that discourages weed growth.
This procedure is particularly effective immediately following core aeration
and/or power raking.
Fertilization following over seeding is highly effective
in promoting healthy plant development.
Verticut/seeding:
Verticut/seeding is a process intended to introduce
grass seed to lawns experiencing less than optimal plant density. MOW-JOE
uses a machine that slices furrows that extend beneath the soil surface
then deposits grass seed in the furrows. Finally the seed and furrow are
covered with the displaced soil creating a perfect germination scenario.
This procedure is performed in a bi-directional method ensuring excellent
coverage.
Fertilization following verticut/seeding is highly
effective in promoting healthy plant development.
Vacuum cleanup:
MOW-JOE's optional vacuum
removal of grass clippings on paved surfaces creating by trimming, edging
or mulching results in a well- manicured appearance. Use of a power blower
is faster but blows debris along borders and back onto the lawn. Depending
on the amount of debris, this could be unsightly. And grass clipping containing
chemicals can find their way into our streams, rivers and lakes, creating
potential environmental concerns.
